Welcome to Tison and to my Social Studies class! My name is Amanda Furr, and I teach Honors and On Level classes for 7th Grade Texas History. I am looking forward to meeting each of you, and I know that we are going to have a rewarding, exciting, and successful year. We want to be the very best we can be in our academics, extracurricular activities, and the pride we show in our school. Students in the Honors classes will be challenged to their highest potential.
My goal is to make Social Studies fun and exciting. We participate in many discussions, hands-on activities, document analysis, and research. Historical reading and writing will also be an expectation of all students. The goal of historical reading and writing is to challenge students to think critically by analyzing and evaluating perspectives, policies, and events throughout the history of Texas and formulate their own opinions and arguments based upon their readings and research.
In 7th grade Social Studies, students study the major historical people and events throughout the history of Texas. Students will study the following units:
