Welcome to Art with Mrs. Porter

Hello, I am Mrs. Porter!

I am teaching Art 1, 1st year Art 2 and Art 2 here at Tison. Art is so much more than just an elective! Art is shown to increase students critical thinking, problem solving, growth in creativity and further develop communication! It also offers growth opportunities with contest and scholastic events, as well as shows to showcase our students hard work! If you have anything you feel is important to share about your learner, please feel free to reach out to me! Art depends on quality supplies, as such we are asking for our families to help us with those supplies. The supply lists are available, please let me know if you have any concerns.

I have a class welcome paper that will come home with all students to help answer any other questions. It goes over class expectations, guidelines, grades and more. Please, sign it and return the signed portion. 

Lastly, a little about me, I received my Bachelors degree in art and psychology from Sam Houston State University. For my at home family, I have my husband of 15 year, 3 children, cats and degus. I love teaching and have been teaching for over 5 years!  I am an animal lover, photographer and lover of the arts!
