Samantha Ojeda
Mrs. Samantha Ojeda, originally from Longview, Texas, is excited to start her fifth year of teaching at Tison Middle School as the Assistant Band Director. Mrs. Ojeda holds a Bachelors in Music Education and a Bachelors in Music Performance from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She graduated summa cum laude, at the top of her class. At NSU, she held the principal clarinet spot in the Wind Symphony and Chamber Winds ensembles for three years, and participated in a variety of ensembles including the NSU Symphony Orchestra, Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band, Clarinet Choir, and the Primavera Winds wind quintet. In 2019, she traveled to Spain with the NSU Wind Symphony as an invited ensemble of the WASBE conference. She was also the president of NSU’s chapter of the National Association for Music Education for two years.
Mrs. Ojeda teaches all of the beginner woodwind classes, leads the Symphonic Band, and assists with the Honors Band. She believes in helping students find their voice on their instrument, and guiding them through their first few years of learning a new instrument.
Mrs. Ojeda’s professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and the International Clarinet Association. She also enjoys continuing to play her clarinet in the Greater Fort Worth Community Band.
When Mrs. Ojeda is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, her boxer dog Lola, and her cat Peaches. She also enjoys thrifting, running, and playing Minecraft, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart.
In addition to learning to play an instrument, band is also an important social experience. Students will form many friendships and take pride in being a member of a successful team.
As always, thank you for your never-ending support of our programs and the arts in general. You are greatly appreciated!
