Honors Courses

At Tison Middle School, in grades 6-8, we offer Honors classes in all four of the core subject areas. The rigor within Honors classes is higher than regular classes. Our counselors explain this difference to students during the registration periods each year. We encourage our 6th and 7th grade to take advantage of the opportunity to enroll in honors classes. 8th grade Honors Math is Algebra 1, which counts as a high school credit. Due to the advanced nature of this course, we recommend students to only enroll in Algebra 1 if they mastered or were near mastering on their 7th grade math STAAR test.
